DunRoamin's New Forever Home

Over the past 20 years, DunRoamin' has helped thousands of sick/injured/abandoned/abused and/or neglected cats and dogs in our communities to be returned to health and find loving forever homes. It is only through the kindness and generosity of so many wonderful supporters that we are able to provide this service. Without your help, these animals would have no other alternative for life.

Now that we have our very own building, is our goal to raise $50,000 to assist in paying for rent, internet, telephone, plowing, power bills, etc, so we may continue to help as many sick, injured, abandoned, abused and/or neglected strays as possible. We are seeking donors and sponsors to assist us in that dream. Donations through e-transfer (treasurer@dunroaminstrayandrescue.com), cash or cheque are all eligible for income tax receipts. With the support of our communities, friends, colleagues, volunteers and sponsors, we are eager to continue our dream. Please contact treasurer@dunroaminstrayandrescue.com for more information or click on the link (www.canadahelps.org) to make a donation through Canada Helps. Thank you so much for allowing us the honour of helping these beautiful animals.

DunRoamin’ is grateful for all the support we receive from our communities.  We have taken in hundreds of sick, injured, abused, neglected and/or abandoned strays so far this year and expect many more.  Ridge, a beautiful grey and white five-year old cat is a good example of someone who needed help he would most likely not receive anywhere else.  He came to us with frost-bitten ears which had begun to fall off, he was emaciated, starving, full of burdocks, matted and he had upper respiratory infection to the degree that his eyes were gummed shut. On top of all that, he tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). With the care of the staff at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic, he’s in the best place possible.  He is just one example - you can see many others on our Adopt A Cat page.

In order to keep strays who have no other option for life, as well as to ensure that we can continue to offer essential low-income and community cat spay/neuter programs, we rely on ongoing support from our donors.   Consumable items such as laundry detergent, bleach, dish soap, litter, dry and canned cat and dog food, etc, are very much appreciated.  Financial donations are crucial to provide essential medication, surgeries, food and supplies to care for the rescues who rely on us.  We appreciate all donations - Co-Op money, Canadian Tire money, gift cards and of course cash donations, cheques and on-line donations through Canada Helps.  We also accept e-transfers at treasurer@dunroaminstrayandrescue.com.  Please take some time to check out our website at www.dunroaminstrayandrescue.com (as well as our Facebook and Instagram pages) and meet some of these cats and dogs who require our help.  They are very grateful for your generous support, as are we.

Canada Helps

Make a donation to our Low-Income Spay/Neuter Assistance Program
through Canada Helps or other method and the
Florenceville Veterinary Clinic (FVC) will match your donation up to a total of $500 each month!

These donations have helped
spay/neuter many cats who would otherwise have added to the already large number of homeless or unwanted cats.

We are so grateful for the overwhelming support for this program that allows so many cats and dogs to be spayed/neutered.   Each and every one makes a huge difference.
Thank you all who donate!

This website is dedicated to the volunteers and supporters who consistently go above and beyond to help abandoned, abused, neglected, sick and injured strays in our communities.  This includes donors, fund raisers, litter scoopers, vet staff, drivers, cuddlers, adopters, fosters and many others who routinely give freely of their time, abilities and resources to help those animals less fortunate.

We'd also like to dedicate this new site to Susan and Lauren Crompton, the originators of DunRoamin's first official website, www.bekindtogodscreatures.com, which was instrumental in bringing DunRoamin' to the attention of others and helping to educate and pass on our message of the requirement for spaying and neutering our pets so that they do not contribute to the already overwhelming number of homeless animals.

Our message is the same – “Be kind to God's creatures.”

"DunRoamin'" means just that:  our strays are all done roaming, are safe at last and will finally receive the medical care, attention and the family they deserve.

DunRoamin's mandate is to help those strays who have no one to care for them - the ones who are abandoned, abused, injured, neglected and have no other alternative for life. We cannot accept healthy animals, as we would very quickly have no room for the ones who truly need us - the ones who would most likely "fall through the cracks" of our current system.

We focus on three main aspects:

Rescue:  helping those strays who are injured, neglected, sick, etc and have no one to care for them. We also try to help those who are too sick, too injured or too young to survive in a normal shelter setting;

Treatment:  providing food, medication, surgery, etc to all rescued animals as required. This also includes helping them to find foster and permanent homes, and ensuring they have the life they deserve which is safe, secure and free of fear; and

Education:  we endeavour to set an inspiring example. We believe animals are deserving of our care and respect. Through our responsible guardianship of the pet, by ensuring they are spayed or neutered, by providing briefings, handouts, flyers, newspaper articles, etc, we try to encourage people to treat all animals with compassion and respect. Our main target group is the younger generation so that they will do better by animals, as hopefully we have improved upon their treatment through the advancements since our parents' and grandparents' generations.
